My Story

20 Years in Banking. One Mission.

I've spent 20 years in banking and mortgage — personal banking, business banking, and lending. Five years ago I added real estate because I kept seeing the same problem from the lending side: too many people involved in a transaction, too much back-and-forth, and families caught in the middle waiting for answers that should have been immediate. I hold mortgage and real estate licenses personally and lead a team — field agents handle showings, and our insurance partner handles policies.

When you're buying a home and the seller's agent calls with a counter-offer at 7pm, you need to know whether the new numbers work. What does the payment look like? What are the closing costs? Can you afford the appraisal gap? A traditional setup means calling your lender, waiting for a callback, relaying the answer to your agent, then getting back to the seller. By then, someone else got the house.

When I'm your mortgage broker AND your team's real estate lead, I run those numbers in real time. My field agents handle showings and open houses. I handle the financial strategy — pre-approval, loan structuring, and negotiations. The seller's side knows that when my team submits an offer, the financing is solid because I already underwrote it. That's not a small advantage. That's the difference between winning and losing in a competitive market.

The insurance came next for the same reason. Every mortgage requires insurance. Every HELOC requires proof of coverage. Instead of sending my clients to a separate company and hoping they get it handled before signing day, our team reviews their coverage in-house. We compare 30+ carriers. It's one conversation, not three separate errands.

The Origin

Why I Built CO Home Equity

I'm originally from the Chicago area. Spent 14 years in Denver building my career in banking and lending. Now I'm in Colorado's high country — Edwards, right in the Vail Valley.

I built CO Home Equity because I was tired of watching families coordinate between three different professionals who never talked to each other. The realtor can't calculate payments or closing costs on the fly during negotiations — they have to call the lender and wait for a callback. The insurance agent is a separate phone call that delays signing day. Every handoff is a chance for something to fall through the cracks.

So I built a team. I hold mortgage and real estate licenses personally and quarterback every transaction from the financial strategy side. Field agents handle showings. Our insurance partner through Direct Insurance Services handles policies. One team, one point of contact, specialists handling every piece. Our sister companies serve business owners too — Basecamp Funding for business loans and Insurance Service 365 for commercial insurance.

This isn't a high-volume operation. I'm not trying to close 50 loans a month with a call center. This is a high-touch practice where I personally quarterback your transaction — because the details matter, and the details are where most transactions go wrong.

Personal Experience

What I've Been Through Personally

I've been divorced. I know what it feels like to sit across from an attorney and wonder what's going to happen to the house. That experience is a big part of why our divorce equity content is as detailed as it is — because I've lived it, and I've helped dozens of Colorado families work through it since.

I'm remarried now with a child. I come from a close-knit family and I bring that same energy to how I work with clients. Your home is personal. The financial decisions around it are personal. You deserve someone who treats them that way.

My Approach

How I Work

1

I listen first.

Before I run a single number or recommend a single product, I need to understand what you're actually trying to accomplish. Sometimes that's accessing equity. Sometimes it's keeping a home after divorce. Sometimes it's realizing that selling isn't the right move even though you think it is.

2

I plan before I execute.

Every client gets a clear strategy before we touch paperwork. What are we doing, why are we doing it, what does it cost, and what's the timeline. No surprises.

3

I solve problems.

Twenty years of banking means I've seen every scenario — the clean ones and the messy ones. Low credit scores, complicated income, mountain properties that confuse automated systems, divorces with contested valuations. I quarterback the financial strategy while my field agents and insurance partner handle their specialties. The transactions that other teams can't figure out are the ones we're built for.

4

I tell you the truth.

If the math doesn't work, I'll say so. If you're better off waiting, I'll say so. If a HELOC isn't right and you should refinance instead, I'll say so. My job is to give you the best outcome, not to close a loan at any cost.

Outside the Office

When I'm not running numbers, you'll find me skiing Vail and Beaver Creek, hiking the Colorado high country, on the golf course, or in the gym. Faith, family, and the mountains are what keep me grounded.
